When candidates apply from overseas there are two categories

  • Junior doctors who are very early in training
  • Doctors who have progressed some way into their training ( Eg finished a post graduate degree from overseas)

The question when you appoint a person should not be

“Do they have GMC registration?

It should be

“who is the best candidate for the job?”

The PLAB route is set at foundation level and does not assure good candidates. GMC registration via this route is only assuring foundation level experience. It forces the candidate to relearn psychiatry, OBGYN, for an examination which disadvantages an experienced candidate. The GMC has made the MTI route for this purpose

When you interview a candidate, you should  be able to assess if they are suitable for the job. You will have to sponsor a visa for overseas candidates via the tier 2 route. Via tier 5, this is all done for you..

Want a bit more help? I will do all the paperwork for you and take you through the first application.. There is no charge at all.
