In order to understand how our brain works, we need to understand what our brain does.  Consider these questions

  • What gives us the Buzz in the morning?
  • What makes sure your brain catches onto events that happen?
  • What makes you come up with new ideas?

Our brain makes us alert for the threats that we face every day ( Remember that we were creatures living in the wild with predators all around us). What set humans apart from other animals was our ability to collect information, process it and come up with ideas to overcome it. For this our brains have come up with ingenious solutions

  1.  It developed some fantastic sensory inputs that collect all the information that buzzes around us
  2. It learnt how to ignore some signals (eg repetitive sounds that are no threat) – If this process does not happen, we are easily distracted from task
  3. It learnt how to process the information in different ways
    1. Logical thought
    2. intuitive thought
    3. Creative thought

For these processes to happen several factors have to take place

  • Wipe out unnecessary information overnight ( sleep)
  • Rest our emotional brain – (Feeling low without reason)
  • Resetting our hormonal levels (Using our circadian rhythm)
  • Connecting the most distant pieces of information to create a new picture

for most people This happens without even thinking about it.

However when it does not work properly we have to go through various diffent factors to see what might be responsible for your symptoms
