Water Deprivation Test

This test is done to check your kidney’s ability to concentrate urine. This can be for a condition called diabetes insipidus. You will be in the hospital from 8 AM to 6 PM

Short synacthen test

This test is done to check the function of your adrenal gland. This can be for a condition called Addison’s disease. You will need to be in hospital from 8 AM to 12 noon

Prolonged OGTT

This test is done to see if your blood sugars drop after glucose. This can also be done after a mixed meal. You will need to be in hospital from 8 AM to 12 noon

Standard OGTT

This test is done to see if your blood sugars rise into the diabetic range after glucose. This can be to check for diabetes . You will need to be in hospital from 8 AM to 11 AM

 

Saline infusion Test

This test is done to check on your adrenal gland. this is done for a condition called Conns Syndrome. You will need to be in hospital from 8 AM to 12 noon

Low Dose Dex Test

This is done to check on your adrenal gland. This is done for a condition called Cushing’s syndrome. You will need to come into hospital to pick up tablets and then come into hospital on day 3 for blood tests expect to be in hospital from 8 AM to 10 AM. 

Overnight Dex Test

This test is to check on your adrenal gland. this is for a condition called Cushing’s syndrome. you will need to come in on two days and expect to be in for 2 hours on both days
