The Process – What we do

Central Manchester Foundation Trust is a large trust providing care for a large proportion of Manchester residents. It provides secondary care for abour 25% and tertiary care in several specialities including cardiac and vascular surgery, Urology, Hepatobiliary surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics and several fields in Medicine. As a consequence it is a very busy teaching hospital.

The Trainees at Central Manchester fall into two categories Deanery Trainees and Hospital Trainees.

Hospital trainees are employed by the hospital as deanery trainees are not sufficient to keep the hospital running. They are on a separate rotation to deanery trainees. The general ward work, on calls, day to ward work, study leave are all similar between deanery trainees and hospital trainees. Deanery trainees have half day study leave weekly ( or one day off fortnightly. )
